TRYIN' TO RIDE A CAROUSEL
WITHOUT A HOLD
Encaustic Painting by Andrew Csafordi - Inspired by the Astrid Young song: “Laney”

Artist Statement:
"Carousels are where our parents first let go of us. We try and hold on tight to the post that connects us to those ornate magical animals that spin us around. We face our fears; we love the excitement, the risk, the feeling of being free. As we grow older we let go of the post for new experiences both good and bad. When I ride a carousel now I still hold the post tight at first. I like the security. Then I let go and hold on to other things in my life. I remember the exhilaration of that first ride. In this painting - I left the sketch layer exposed showing that the horse is emerging, set free, unfinished yet to be refined. For me - its ok just the way it is. Not all paintings need to be finished." |

The lively acidity refreshes the palate, leading into a clean finish marked by red fruit, earthy notes, and lingering florals. Sourced entirely from K.J. Watson Vineyards. 100% Pinot Noir. Laney knows the sunshine by another name, and she often calls it pinot noir. Though her world is in entropy, the ride is worth the price of admission. Like the carousel she rides, the wine awakens the senses, swept up in rose petals and cherry bark, undulating down to earth on a wave of desire and longing… for the next sip." Astrid Young, Sommelier
