When asked what three words would best describe the County, Nadia Knarr replied “Complex • Energetic • Rooted”.
As a full time doctor AND farmer (who is lucky if she gets to eat with utensils!) … the same could be said to describe her! Born in St. Jean, Quebec, Nadia has lived in Nova Scotia, Quebec and Ontario. While training to become a doctor at Queen’s University in Kingston, she knew of Prince Edward County and was enchanted by its beautiful countryside and great restaurants. Her first house in the County was a renovated church (so cool!). Years later, her dream to own a farm came true. Today with her husband Paul, they own and manage Noble Beast Farms – home to over 100 alpacas … plus llamas, donkeys, chickens, assorted dogs & cats … and a pony (a childhood dream come true). Her maternal grandfather had an elite horse farm in Poland that was taken from him during the war. Nadia says “I think he would love the fact that his granddaughter now has a proper farm complete with livestock … including a chunky horse!” Nadia describes the County as a place where entrepreneurship, creative energies and intent intersect in a beautiful landscape.” She is learning to appreciate how rich and resourceful the natural environment is. Her favourite thing to do is to walk the Millenium Trail and visit all of the wild apple trees while thinking up crazy ideas for her next project. |
