ANDREW CSAFORDI I ARTIST
Fine Art Encaustic Paintings
|
Andrew Csafordi is a contemporary Canadian artist and a master of the ancient technique of painting with melted beeswax … known as encaustic painting. His fine art works feature rich layers of pure beeswax, damar resin and dry pigments or oil paints, as well as fibre, wood, metal and other materials to create his unique painting style.
Realistic at times, impressionistic at other times, Csafordi creates textured paintings that call out to be touched. Andrew’s contemporary work invites the viewer to become explorers within his luminous compositions. Each work takes you on an imaginative voyage. About Encaustic Art
Encaustic art is one of the world’s oldest and most fascinating painting methods — dating back over 2,000 years — and yet it continues to inspire modern artists for its versatility and luminosity. The technique involves melting beeswax with resin and pigment, then applying it in layers that are fused with heat to create depth, texture, and permanence.
Today, encaustic fine artwork bridges history and innovation. Artist Andrew Csafordi has redefined this medium by blending traditional encaustic painting techniques with contemporary composition and design. The result is modern artwork that feels timeless — pieces that radiate light, movement, and emotion from every surface.

Charming Art Gallery!
While in Prince Edward County, my husband and I visited Andara Gallery on the recommendation of many. We're so glad we did! We were greeted by Andrew, one of the two artists displaying work in the uniquely striped gallery. He kindly explained the techniques of encaustic painting (his work) and also talked about the other artist's equally impressive photographic work (his wife's). In addition, we toured his century barn which was a treasure-trove of their work. We were charmed both by the art and by Andrew's personality and would highly recommend a visit and/or a hands-on workshop. Martha R |
