Artist Statement:
"To me, you are making a statement when you make a circle in the sand - no matter how you do it. You know there’s impermanence in doing so. Like in life, things are always changing. You end up creating your own circle. Making a circle is a conscious act to create something that is yours - to make a mark. It marks your place in time for that moment and you know it could be washed away or blown away in the wind at any moment. It might make you stand back and reflect on what you have - or it could mark this as a time to move forward. To me my painting of a circle in the sand is a thing of beauty … a collection of colours. It flows, it’s soft and feels like its ever-changing. The circle may change throughout the day. At night, my circle in the sand is about embodying joy." |
