Andrew’s latest body of work is a return to joy through impressionist-style garden landscapes intertwined with abstraction. Bursts of colour and an emphasis on texture bring his imagination in the garden to life. A fusion of layers of colourful beeswax with mixed media on wood panels, each painting is a harmony of bold gestures and carefully applied details.
 
Andrew sculpts the wax with brushes and various heated tools - the semi-translucent layers slowly reveal their secrets. Working back and forth across the board with energy and imagination, Andrew and the wax are a team working together, pushing and pulling.

“Painting is an evolutionary process where there is an ongoing dialogue with the beeswax medium – adding and subtracting, altering the painting as it evolves … every step of the way.”

The end result are spirited works that are both enchanting and draw you into the mire.
