The 2022 Prince Edward County Business Excellence Awards, sponsored by The Municipality of Prince Edward, were handed out at the awards ceremony during an exclusive online event, January 26th, 2023.
The ceremony was presented by the Prince Edward County Chamber of Commerce and is designed to officially recognize and honour local businesses who have demonstrated a passion for excellence. In all, more than 50 businesses and individuals were profiled in 7 categories, with recipients announced live online. ANDARA Gallery was announced the winner from a list of stellar nominees, including The Eddie Hotel & Farm, The Hayloft Dance Hall, Joseph Prinzen Woodworks, Base 31, County Stage Company, Oeno Gallery and Big Lake Arts. The "Contribution to the Arts" Award recognizes and celebrates the artistic achievements of an individual, organization and/or business' contributions to local art and culture. During their acceptance speech, ANDARA Gallery Co-Owner/Artist, Tara Wilkinson, congratulated their fellow nominees for their outstanding collective efforts to raise the profile of the Arts in Prince Edward County and summarized her remarks by adding "Together We're Stronger."

The business awards panel of judges were impressed by the calibre of companies represented and every company nominated received careful attention. All nominated companies were evaluated based on the category criteria, including community contributions and business leadership.
This event and awards ceremony celebrates the contributions of business-people and features organizations that exemplify leadership and business excellence in our community. The Award nominations are based on criteria that include outstanding business leadership, community involvement, entrepreneurship, environmental consciousness, employee welfare, innovation and growth. The Prince Edward County Chamber of Commerce’s focus is to channel the collective strength of the business community to improve the economy.

Tara Wilkinson wins "Children's Choice Award"
at 30th Annual Art in the County Juried Exhibition
Tara Wilkinson & "Reminscent"The 30th Annual Art in the County Juried Exhibition and Sale was held from June 22nd to July 2, 2023 at BASE31 in Picton. Over 1,000 people of all ages visited the 10-day show to see 112 juried works by 86 County artists. Both adults AND children who visited the show were given a ballot and invited to vote on their favourite piece of art.
A fine art photographer, Tara likes to also explore using digital techniques - taking the good bones of an image and applying digital tools to create works that she hopes will bring as much joy as she felt while creating them. The resulting images can sometimes challenge the imagination, and bring to life details one may not have otherwise noticed. "REMINISCENT" was just such an image. Tara felt the name suited it's intent - to visually imagine the memories stirred when triggered through a beautiful scent. |
This award, which included a $250 monetary gift was made possible thanks to James Williamson of Welch LLP, Picton.
