ANDARA Gallery at Home
"Art is powerful ... it connects and inspires us, lifts our spirits,
and can provide real comfort and joy."
During the COVID-19 lockdowns, we are proud to share "ANDARA Gallery at Home" ... a series of posts about what it's like for our clients and friends to isolate at home, and how their art has been a constant companion during this difficult time.
We want to thank everyone who shared their experiences with us. They told us that their art makes them happy, and provides quiet reflection. It reminds them of home, their travels, and of the places they were born or long to return to one day. |
During isolation, they really take notice of the colours, shapes, textures and the details in their art and say that - post-COVID - they won't stop noticing the details ever again.
There is no greater joy for an artist than to know that art - created with heart and hands - touches someone, and can be there for them in times of darkness and uncertainty. Long live the power of art! Stay safe. |
Enchanting way to spend a week-end
This two-day week-end was immersive and fun in all the best ways. I'm not much of an artist, but encaustic is such a forgiving medium -- if you don't like how something turned out you can melt a section and turn it into something different. And I came away with a couple of frame-worthy pieces. Loved the workshop (with a table covered in wax drips from past projects and workshops). Loved the setting (with several studios, each with a different feel, and quirky birdsnests lining the path to an old barn). Loved the process (Andrew offers a lovely mix of light history and theory, technical direction, space to go your own direction, and practical tips that build on your vision). And of course I keep on coming back to Prince Edward County.
